On September 6th 2008, I had the pleasure of being part of the T-1 Ultra Anejo Northern
California release party at Zocalo in Sacramento.  German Gonzalez, the man behind T-1, was
kind enough to not only share his new product with us but also decided to hand deliver some
of the bottles.  Upon arrival, we sat down to some wonderful appetizers and listened to
German talk about the new product and where he plans on going with the new T-1 brand.
To say the least, I was extremely excited because I have always respected and enjoyed
every product German has been involved with.  Here are some of the details about T-1 Ultra
Anejo:

T-1 Ultra Anejo is aged for 11 long years.  Due to the “angel share”
and other factors, T-1 is a limited edition bottling with only 34
bottles available to the world.  From what I am told, all of the
bottles have now been purchased.  The cost of this bottle was
$2,000 for pre-sale customers.  For this price, you received a hand
blown 1.5L bottle with a crystal bottle stopper and another 200ml
    bottle for your tasting pleasure.

After eating, and staring at the beautiful bottles for what seemed like a lifetime of
anticipation, it was finally time to taste this long awaited product.  I have described my
tasting experience below:

The Ultra Anejo is a very deep amber brown color and is aged for
11 long years.  T-1 aromas consist of intense floral and vanilla
aspects followed by moderate fruit and caramel.  On the lighter side,
this Ultra Anejo has mild aromas of spice with a hint of earth.  It is
very interesting to let this product sit for a few minutes while
continually smelling the aromas.  You quickly notice how complex of
a product this truly is.  Upon tasting, this Ultra Anejo is mellow and
has a medium-to-heavy mouth feel.  While the product has
moderate-to-intense agave flavor, especially for an 11 year aged
Ultra Anejo, it is sweet and has no bitterness.  The flavor was truly
exceptional with intense flavors of vanilla and caramel followed by
moderate-to-intense floral notes.  Deeper flavors of T-1 consist of
moderate fruit and wood with mild spice.  My favorite part of this
amazing product is its finish.  The finish has a very long duration of
flavor and very numbing alcohol intensity.  Now when I say very
long, I mean the longest I have ever experienced in a product.
The only way to describe it is that the flavors change to different
intensities as time goes by for a few minutes.  No matter how I
describe this product, it truly does not do it justice; I believe it is
that amazing.  I would personally recommend that everyone try
this product to experience this Ultra Anejo which has received my
highest rating to date.  I have rated this T-1 Ultra Anejo at 98 out
    of 100 points.

After tasting, German did a bottle signing both for T-1 and anything else that guests
had to be signed.  It was truly a blessing to have German and his T-1 Ultra Anejo at Zocalo
for this monumental event and I cannot wait to taste the rest of the T-1 products when they
are available.
