Info on the Back of the Bottle: The tequila Real Hacienda is a Mexican pride,
tradition with more than a hundred years that emphasizes the tequila industry.  In its
elaboration 100% Agave Tequilana Weber, Blue variety, is utilized after 10 years of
reaching full ripening.

The Tequila Real Hacienda ages itself in casks of white oak, to acquire the maturity,
that gives its body and bouquet which distinguishes it from others.

Other Info: "Real Hacienda was a contender in the Tequila boom of the early to mid
90's and the Viuda de Romero distillery has one of the older histories in the industry. In
1999 or there about, I found a couple of dusty bottles of Blanco and Reposado on the
shelves of a somewhat seedy, old liquor store, so even then they had obviously been
there for awhile. I'd seen reviews of Real Hacienda on the net but hadn't come across
any until I walked into this old store. I tracked down Mina International Services (the
listed importer at the time) to find out their status and if Real Hacienda was still
available at all. After a couple of weeks I received a phone call from them and they
informed me that it would soon be available again. A month later there it was in my
favorite Boulder, Colorado liquor store but amazingly enough it was priced to move.
This was good and bad news because the truth is I love all three varieties of Real
Hacienda. Each one truly represents the definition of it's respective category. This
Reposado has a very light golden color. There's a definite sweetness to the nose and
mouth as well as good agave flavor. It's six month resting period contributed to the
smoothness while maintaining a wonderful balance of wood tones. The bad news?
Certainly as a result of its quality and reasonable price it wasn't long until other tequila
drinkers snatched it up. My precious source for Real Hacienda disappeared once again.
This was probably about the time Tequila Viuda de Romero was sold to Pernod Ricard
who only imports the proprietary, mixto label of "Viuda de Romero". Some supplies of
Real Hacienda were being imported by IPN in 2002. Great, while it lasted but even
though IPN continues to list Real Hacienda on their site they've been out of stock
several years now." -

Unfortunately, this tequila distillery is no longer up and running.  The NOM has since
been transferred to another distillery.  On a recent trip to Mexico I saw a new bottle of
Real Hacienda and both myself and Mark Cannon from
Pocotequila.com tried it at
dinner.  While the new product was good, for the money, it is not the same as it once
was and with the distillery gone it looks like it never will.
