Info on the Back of the Bottle: This tequila is done with patience, time, and
tradition managing to be a beverage without comparison.

The agave with which Tequila "Quita Penas" is produced is selected in great detail to
achieve its excellent quality.

Other Info: From what I understand about Quita Penas, the tequila was originally
100% but later bottles were produced as a mixto but looked almost identical.  Quita
Penas has now reverted back to being a 100% product which I am always glad to
hear.  The bottle pictured above is one of these new bottles.

The book
Tequila: A Traditional Art of Mexico, edited by Alberto Ruy-Sanchez and
Margarita de Orellana, provides the following information about Quita Penas:  "Tequila
is said to quitar las penas, that is, take away your worries - or at least help you forget
them.  Quita Penas is produced in Penjamo, Guanajuato, at the legendary Hacienda
Corralejo - a place worth visiting not only to see how this tequila is manufactured but
also to discover a part of Mexican history.  Founders Javier and Santiago Fernandez
Gabela gave this tequila an elegant presentation: the cobalt-blue color [...] is
reminiscent of the blue agave used in its elaboration."
