Ocho Plata - Carrizal 2008

Tequila Joe's Collection
My Tasting Notes: I tried this tequila at the Davis Graduate out of a snifter glass.
The tequila is clear in color with aromas consisting of intense floral aspects followed by
moderate earth and fruit.  On the tongue, this tequila is mellow and has a thin mouth
feel.  While the tequila has heavy agave flavor, it has a low amount of sweetness and
no bitterness.  The flavor of this tequila has intense agave and floral aspects followed
by mild notes of fruit.  Upon finishing this tequila, there is a long duration of flavor and
subtle numbing alcohol intensity.

Info on the Back of the Bottle: "Single Estate" means all our agaves are
harvested from a single field and that they bear the personality of the soil and climate
unique to this location.

This is the 2008 Plata.  Its agaves were harvested this year from our "Carrizal" estate
nicknamed "La Langacha" (The Strip) because the land is long and thin.  It sits at 1,978
meters above sea level two miles from the village of Arandas.

It is notorious for intensely sweet agaves.  This estate provided only 11,088 bottles
(yours is numbered on the front).  It has a sweetly floral nose with extra ripe agaves
candid fruit presenting themselves.  We detect citrus, cinnamon, fruits, and almonds on
the palate with a lingering hint of spearmint on the finish.

There is only one Ocho.

Other Info: The date stamp on the bottle is 7/7/08.
