My Tasting Notes: I tried this tequila at the Davis Graduate using a snifter glass.
This tequila is an amber brown color and has intense aromas of floral and earth. There
are also moderate aromas of spice and caramel followed by mild fruit, vanilla, and
smoke. A soft entry leads to a sweet flavor with a hint of bitterness. The Gran
Centenario Gran Reserva Anejo flavor contains intense woody and earthy flavors with
moderate floral and caramel. The tequila also has mild notes of vanilla, spice, agave,
and smoke. Gran Centenario Gran Reserva Anejo finishes with a very long duration of
flavor and a numbing alcohol feeling.

insert: "Gran Centenario Tequilas Born of Earth, Fire, Wood, and Time
For more than 140 years, a rich tradition and a deep sense of pride have inspired many
generations of master tequileros at the Hacienda Los Camichines in the highlands of
Jalisco to produce Mexico's finest tequila.
Jalisco is a region renowned for its richly colored soil and a climate ideal for cultivation
of the world's best blue agave plants. It was here that the secret to creating the
precious liquid that we know as tequila was first uncovered by Master Tequilero Lazaro
Gallardo, founder of the Hacienda Los Camichines in 1857.
Tequila, an extraordinary beverage,is the distilled essence of the agave azul, or blue
agave. This striking plant is distinguished by its long, thorny bluish arms extending
from the brilliant heart. Starting with the extracted essence of this noble plant of the
earth, we utilize special combinations of fire, wood, and time to give birth to the
various aromas and flavors that characterize our Reposado (rested) and Anejo (aged)
tequilas.
Today, as for so many decades, we maintain the same hand-crafted production
processes originated by Master Gallardo. These processes begin with the careful
selection of the finest 10-year-old agave, its cooking in traditional stone ovens to
obtain the desired "must," or honey water, its distillation in pot stills, and finally its
lengthy resting time in different varieties of fine woods.
It has been said that fire purifies everything, so it is fitting that fire plays a vital role in
the creation of tequila. Not only is fire essential in the distillation process, but also in
preparing the interior of the special aging barrels that lend character to our tequilas.
At Los Camichines, we use only new barrels of the finest woods to bestow our
products with their unique aromatic qualities.
The final step in our time-tested production process is "selection suave," when our
master tequilero carefully selects only the smoothest and high quality tequilas and
then marries them, thereby creating a family of truly unique products, each set apart
from all other rested and aged tequilas.
Gran Centenario Azul, Gran Reserva represents the union of all the virtues known in
producing a great handcrafted tequila. The process begins with the cooking of the
heart of the blue agave in traditional stone ovens, followed by its double-distillation in
small tequila pot stills and its slow aging in new barrels of French and American oak.
Every step is meticulously supervised by our master tequilero, and thus it can only be
produced in very limited quantities. The process culminates with the exceptional
blending of the finest, most aged tequilas from the family's personal caves. We invite
you to savor Tequila Gran Centenario Azul, Gran Reserva, with its deep golden color,
its extraordinary aromas derived from lengthy contact with the fine woods in which it
has quietly rested, its robust character with hints of almond flavor, and its exceptional
silky - smooth texture. When you taste it, you will enjoy an ancestral tradition which
the family now wishes to share with the world.
Gran Centenario Azul, Gran Reserva is presented in a manner befitting its
super-premium quality. An elegant blue ceramic bottle with a bronze angel in the
forefront is cradled in a handcrafted box, symbolizing the expertise of Mexican artisans.
This is Gran Centenario Azul, Gran Reserva, truly an homage to the tradition of
creating a superb tequila, and now yours to savor during special occasions, either
straight or on the rocks.
