Tequila Joe's Collection
My Tasting Notes: I purchased 3/4 ounces of this tequila at the Grad Tequila Bar in
Davis, CA for $8.33 and tasted it out of a snifter.  The tequila is a golden amber color.
El Tesoro 70th Extra Anejo aromas consist of intense fruit and floral aspects followed
by moderate caramel, spice, and earth.  On the lighter side, this Extra Anejo has mild
aromas of vanilla.  On the tongue, this tequila is mellow and has a heavy and sweet,
syrupy mouth feel.  While the tequila has moderate-to-heavy agave flavor, it is sweet
and has no bitterness.  The flavor of this tequila contains intense flavors of floral
followed by moderate-to-intense agave and wood.  Deeper flavors of El Tesoro 70th
consist of moderate fruit and caramel.  Upon finishing this tequila, there is a long
duration of flavor and numbing alcohol intensity.

Info on the Back of the Bottle: "El Tesoro handcrafts its tequila from 100% Blue
Agave, following the time-honored traditions created by Don Felipe 70 years ago.  We
are proud to celebrate our anniversary with this limited edition extra Anejo, aged
seven years for an incomparable flavor and finish."

Other Info: This bottles date stamp is 7/26/07.

"El Tesoro Aniversario was made from agave harvested in 2000 by Carlos and his late
father. The typical sugar content of blue agave lies between 30-33%. This agave had
the highest sugar content of any of the plants they had ever harvested, 37% -- we
had to do something special with it.

Was it a coincidence that the distillery was built in 1937 and the agave had 37% sugar
content? Was it a coincidence that if we aged this tequila for 7 years longer than any
other tequila is aged that it would be ready for the distillery's 70th anniversary on
7/7/07?

What is certain is that this tequila is truly unique and special.

Aged for seven years in white oak American bourbon barrels, this limited-edition "Extra
Añejo" offers a rare tequila experience. Carlos says that El Tesoro Aniversario is "soft
and sweet, with scents of chocolate and vanilla and a hint of spice. There are stronger
tastes of oak, with an almond-like flavor, and a rich agave finish."

El Tesoro Aniversario is an exclusive edition, as only 2007 cases were handcrafted at
La Alteña, and they are now hard to locate due to popular demand. This is a limited
reserve for collectors only." -
