Tequila Joe's Collection
Dos Reales Anejo (Mixto)
My Tasting Notes: These are not my tasting notes and the reasoning is explained
below in the other info section.

"Golden with hints of brown. Light and mellow attack, with light agave intensity and
sencillo agave complexity. Caramel aromas dominate with wisps of smoke and a solid
hit of acetone aromas. Sweet in the mouth, with slight anise and toast flavors that
quickly give way to lip-numbing alcohol. Sweet cardboard flavors and heat dominate
the finish." -From Lance Cutler's book the
Tequila Lover's Guide to Mexico and his
website
Wine Patrol

Info on the Back of the Bottle: n/a

Other Info: The front of the bottle states, "Dos Reales is a tequila of unparalleled
smoothness and quality.  It is distilled from selected agave plants and aged in oak
barrels to achieve the perfect balance of taste and smoothness."

From what I understand, Dos Reales was the first version in the US of what became to
be known as Gran Centenario.  If you look at some of the older bottles of Gran
Centenario on this website you can notice the similarities of the bottles and label
designs.  Years ago, Dos Reales was the secondary labeling out of the Tequila Cuervo
La Rojeña distillery.  Later bottles of what became Gran Centenario are now produced
at Cuervo's new distillery Casa Cuervo with the 1122 NOM number.  Also, subsequent
bottles of Gran Centenario are no longer mixto products like their Dos Reales counter
parts and are now 100% agave.

Seeing that this is a mixto and I have never seen another bottle for sale, I doubt I will
have any tasting notes of my own up here.  This is why I have posted tasting notes
from Lance Cutler's book and website (
Wine Patrol).
