Cinco de Mayo Reposado - 2nd Generation
|
My Tasting Notes: I tried this tequila at a friend’s house in a Riedel glass. The
tequila is a pale yellow color and has an intense floral and fruit aroma. Once you get
past the intensity of the nose, you can smell mild notes of earth with hints of caramel
and spice. On the tongue the tequila is mellow and soft but yet has a medium oily
mouth feel. While the tequila has no bitterness, it is actually fairly sweet. Now onto
flavor. The flavor has intense floral and fruit attributes which are followed by moderate
agave. On a lighter note, this tequila has mild earth, spice, and wood. The tequila
finish is a long duration of flavor followed by a numbing alcohol feeling.
Info on the Back of the Bottle: "Cinco de Mayo (the 5th of May, 1862) was a
memorable date on which Mexico won the epic battle between the Mexican and French
armies which took place near the Forts of Loreto and Guadalupe.
In honour of this important, historical event, we present Tequila Cinco de Mayo, 100%
authentic Blue Agave, 100% Mexican, Bottled at Origin."
Other Info: Cinco de Mayo is a product that has not been produced for some time
now. When it was in production, it was produced by the Herradura company. As far as
I can tell, they only produced a Reposado and Blanco in the Cinco de Mayo line. In my
opinion, this bottle ranks as a high quality product along with the rest of the Herradura
line but is cheaper. I pick these bottles up anytime I see them and for $25 plus tax
(the typical price I see them for), you cannot go wrong.
