Other Info: This tequila was released (or should I say re-released) in late 2008.
Many people were very upset at this re-release because it was portrayed as the
original juice in the bottle. In fact, I have been told from a good source that this
tequila is the two best lots of Chinaco Negro (which is aged 5 years) that has been
rebarrelled and aged for an additional 2 years to make it a total of 7 years aged. The
packaging is very similar to the original except for the removal of German's name (the
previous master distiller) and signature. Additional main differences include the
addition of 300 new bottle numbers, different importers, the picture on the box is kind
of blurry, and a slightly different hinging on the box.
Inside the box, there is a letter from Chinaco Tequila. The letter reads as follows:
Dear Tequila Enthusiast, For generations, my family has been handcrafting Chinaco
Tequila in memory of famed Chinaco warrior, Manuel Gonzalez - my
great-great-grandfather. To celebrate his gallant memory, my family's rich heritage,
and your appreciation for the world's finest tequila, we are proud to present the
Chinaco 30th Anniversary Emperador Anejo Tequila.
I set aside this specially bottled tequila more than seven years ago, in anticipation of
the 30th Anniversary of Chinaco. Distilled, bottled, and aged with the true tequila
connoisseur in mind, Chinaco Emperador reveals a rich bouquet and complex depth,
equilibrium and style.
Each handcrafted bottle has been numbered and signed by me, then packaged in a
one-of-a-kind, handmade box, featuring Mexican Emperor Maximillian in full Chinaco
battle dress. Rich in both flavor and character, Chinaco Emperador reflects Mexico's
rich history and my family pride. Thank you for sharing these traditions and for
celebrating this milestone with us.
